This is the start of something big. In 2018 Jim and Sonia head East to China taking in as many Silk Road wonders as we can, trying to avoid the extremes of heat and cold and having as much fun as possible. We plan to leave in March 2018, inevitably via Beaubery in France, to drop off some of our possessions, including our car and then the adventure begins.
I do owe a debt of gratitude to my good friend Blanca Fernandez whose solo adventures across the globe on her bike, were nothing short of inspirational. So we can do this.
Glancing through Jim's route planner I see we will be going to Mostar in Bosnia, the Transfagaran Road in Romania, Istanbul and many wonderful places to the East including Armenia, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and China. If we can make it that far to the end of the Silk Road, and we are still on speaking terms and still have a vehicle, we intend to continue to Burma, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore through to Australia. Our plans will be refined over the coming months as realism begins to kick in.
